Hailing from a small college town in Massachusetts sits the proclaimed ‘King of DIII NIL’, Jack Betts. By Kyle Phillips

The Amherst College Wide Receiver utilized the last eight months to grow his personal brand into a marketable option for companies around the country. Business Insider sat down with the MOGL athlete to discuss his ability to leverage a quantity of deals into profitable income as a student-athlete, and MOGL’s role in his journey.

Headlining news articles and appearing in several podcasts, Betts has accumulated increasing popularity

A Key Realization

Since the followings of college athletes are wide ranging, athletes must find their own paths towards success. Betts’s story began with an instagram direct message from bracelet creator LifeStyle Bands.

Although LifeStyle bands only offered free merchandise with a percentage stake in affiliate sales, Betts discovered a demand for DIII athletes in sports marketing. Upon this realization, Betts sought out a high quantity of deals in product endorsements, cash partnerships, and free merchandise.

To date, Betts has secured 35 deals amassing over $10,000. The trick – an organized, professional pitch to brands on who you are, and what you offer.

“You need to have some sort of catch-your-eye approach,” Betts explains, “these brands don't have time to scour your Instagram or even just Google you.”

MOGL’s Marketplace a Launchpad for Betts

In order to deliver a pitch to potential sponsors, athletes need a foot in the door, an opportunity to explain why they are a fit. MOGL provides exactly that.

With no charge to the athlete or brand, both parties are able to connect and communicate in hopes of finding a fit for partnerships. Betts has utilized MOGL’s features to deliver his personal pitch and complete nearly a third of his deals.

On top of utilizing MOGL’s marketplace, Betts thrives as a member of MOGL’s Athlete Advisory team, earning over $750 in referrals to date. Upon reaching 100 referrals, Betts also earned a new MacBook Air as a giveaway competition gift from MOGL. This accomplishment is a testament to Betts’s ability to sell what MOGL brings to the table, as well as himself.

Building a Brand

MOGL’s versatility has enabled fulfillment of MOGL’s mission to serve all athletes of all sports. Whether the athlete is looking for 1, 5, or 35 NIL deals, the training, education, payment, and automated compliance offered by MOGL empowers them to do so.

More importantly, the resources offered by MOGL encourage athletes to build their personal brands, thus multiplying long-term success.

In Betts’ case, his consistency of successful NIL partnerships led to a 150% increase in Instagram followers since January of this year. Furthermore, he’s garnered a platform that has allowed him to launch a NIL training course, the Make Your Own Legacy Academy, sharing his knowledge and success with fellow student-athletes.

Betts says he is currently in conversations with nationally renowned brands such as Fanatics and Xbox. By continuing to leverage MOGL’s resources and enhance his reach, the ‘King of DIII NIL’ can expect an even more lucrative senior year.
